"Let me introduce you to the team!"
James Iafe, V.M.D., CITRMS - Founding Partner, PrivacyEdge, LLC.
Dr. James Iafe, a 1993 graduate of the University Of Pennsylvania School Of Veterinary Medicine, has been practicing small animal medicine in Pittsburgh PA for the past 8 years. He currently holds the position of Vice President for the Western Pennsylvania Veterinary Medical Association.
Prior to his position at PrivacyEdge, Dr. Iafe has worked as a relief veterinarian in Western Pennsylvania. This experience helped Dr. Iafe understand the different ways that practices handle private information.
After becoming a victim of Identity Theft, Dr. Iafe recognized how easy it is for someone to assume a person’s identity and the burden of rectifying your identity becomes the responsibility of the victim. In addition to becoming a victim of Identity Theft, Dr. Iafe received a breach notification letter from his mortgage lender informing him that his private information was exposed to the general public which could lead to Identity Theft. Once again the burden to handle the situation and to monitor his identity was his responsibility.
In 2004, Dr. Iafe became a Certified Identity Theft Risk Management Specialist (CITRMS) through the Institute of Fraud Risk Management. Dr. Iafe then joined Mr. Kirschner to form the PrivacyEdge; the goal of this organization is to help the veterinary industry to safeguard the private personal information that they are entrusted with by their clients and staff. The PrivacyEdge works with practices to understand and comply with the Information Privacy Laws, Standards, and Acts.
Dr. Iafe has written and published a series of articles on privacy and identity theft for the DVM Newsmagazine. He also consults with the AVMA on information privacy and security.
Dr. Iafe is a "Red Flags" expert and founding partner of the PrivacyEdge, LLC in Pittsburgh, PA. The PrivacyEdge designs Identity Theft Prevention Programs exclusively for Veterinarians.
Ken Kirschner, CITRMS - Founding Partner PrivacyEdge, LLC.
Ken Kirschner has worked as a Management Consultant for over 35 years in the information technology industry. He has provided consulting services to such companies as Heinz, Westinghouse, Alcoa, GE, Fisher Scientific, Raytheon, PNC, Mellon, and National City Bank just to name a few. In addition to his Management Consulting background, Ken has developed and taught Micro-Computer Fundamentals as well as classes on how to apply the Microsoft Office Program suite of products to address everyday business and personal needs.
Throughout his career, Ken has focused on implementing practical solutions that address complex business problems.
After receiving breach notifications from various organizations including the Veteran’s Administration, Ken realized that Information Privacy and Security is not just an information technology issue. He recognized that it is an issue that needs to be addressed at all levels of an organization and by all employees within that organization to be successful.
As a privacy advocate, Ken teamed up with Dr. Iafe to form the PrivacyEdge, LLC. The goal of this organization is to help businesses: to safeguard the private personal information that they are entrusted with by their customers and employees, and to be compliant with the Information Privacy Laws, Standards, and Acts. The PrivacyEdge, LLC also helps organizations and individuals to mitigate information exposure risks.
Ken is raising the awareness of the impact that Identity Theft is having on businesses and individuals through speaking engagements and numerous presentations. He has written and published articles for various organizations on this subject matter. Ken also works with federal and state officials to help in the fight against Identity Theft.
Ken holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration and he is also a Certified Identity Theft Risk Management Specialist (CITRMS).
